Can you export rice from India to Turkey?

Yes. Om Prasadam exports Basmati and Non-Basmati rice from India to Turkey under APEDA registration, loading at Mundra or Nhava Sheva for Mersin, Izmir or the Ambarlı and Istanbul terminals in fourteen to eighteen days. Turkey grows its own rice and manages imports actively through tariff and licensing arrangements administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, so quantities and timing follow your import licence rather than the other way round. Basmati is the grade that travels best here — Turkish hotels, pilav houses and the growing Indian and Pakistani restaurant trade all specify long grain.

Rice varieties that move in this market

Every market buys differently. These are the grades that actually sell in Turkey, rather than a catalogue of everything we mill.

The long-grain Turkish hotels and pilav kitchens specify when the rice has to stay separate and elongate visibly on the plate.

  • Longest grain
  • HoReCa

Logistics

Shipping rice from India to Turkey

Loading at Mundra and Nhava Sheva, discharging at Mersin.

Load ports

Mundra and Nhava Sheva. Services to Turkish ports commonly transship at Jebel Ali, Port Said or Piraeus. Mersin is the usual rice gateway; Izmir and Ambarlı serve the west.

Transit time

Fourteen to eighteen days port to port, with routing and transshipment accounting for most of the variation.

Order structure

Five tonnes minimum per variety, though Turkish orders more often run as full loads of one or two Basmati grades tied to a licence quantity.

Incoterms

FOB Mundra or Nhava Sheva, or CIF Mersin or Izmir, quoted in USD. We can phase shipments across a licence period.

Compliance

Documentation for Turkey import clearance

Most rice consignments that get held up are held on paperwork, not on quality. We prepare the file before the container is booked so your clearing agent is never waiting on us.

  • Import licensing. Turkish rice imports run through tariff and licensing arrangements administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. We quote against your licence quantity and can phase shipments across the period it covers.
  • Food safety controls. Consignments documented for Turkish food import control, with composition, origin, production and expiry dating and storage conditions.
  • Turkish labelling. Turkish-language labels applied at the mill with net weight, origin, dates and importer details, alongside English.
  • Residue analysis. Lot-level residue and quality analysis from NABL-accredited laboratories, which matters where consignments are sampled at entry.
  • Export documentation. Phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, health certificate, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading.

Yes, but Turkey manages rice imports actively through tariff and licensing arrangements administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, because it grows its own crop.
