1121 Basmati
The long-grain of choice for plov, where the grain must stay separate and elongate rather than collapse into the dish.
Baku · via Bandar Abbas or Poti
Azerbaijan is landlocked from the sea trade, so the route is the hard part. We move containers through the North–South corridor or the Black Sea and quote the whole chain, not just the sea leg.

LOT / AZ-01Basmati · Milled
Yes. Om Prasadam exports Basmati and Non-Basmati rice from India to Azerbaijan under APEDA registration. Baku sits on the Caspian, so there is no direct sea call: containers move either through the International North–South Transport Corridor, discharging at Bandar Abbas and continuing overland, or through the Black Sea to Poti or Batumi in Georgia and then by road or rail to Baku. Door delivery typically runs twenty-five to thirty-five days depending on which corridor is used. Because the chain has several legs, we quote it end to end and fix the routing before booking. Basmati and long-grain plov rice carry this market — plov is the national dish and the grain is chosen for it.
In demand in Azerbaijan
Every market buys differently. These are the grades that actually sell in Azerbaijan, rather than a catalogue of everything we mill.
The long-grain of choice for plov, where the grain must stay separate and elongate rather than collapse into the dish.
A well-balanced Basmati with strong aroma and a fluffy, non-sticky cook — favoured where fragrance carries the finished plate.
Parboiled Basmati that holds firm through the long, slow cooking plov requires, with less breakage in bulk service.
Logistics
Loading at Mundra and Nhava Sheva, discharging at Baku.
Mundra and Nhava Sheva. Two corridors: via Bandar Abbas and overland through Iran, or via Poti or Batumi on the Black Sea and then road or rail. We price and book the corridor that suits your timing and clearing arrangements.
Twenty-five to thirty-five days port to port, with routing and transshipment accounting for most of the variation.
Five tonnes minimum per variety, though the long inland leg means most Azerbaijani buyers order full loads of one or two grades rather than many small lines.
FOB Mundra or Nhava Sheva, or delivered Baku with the inland leg quoted in. CIF to Bandar Abbas, Poti or Batumi where you arrange your own onward haulage.
Compliance
Most rice consignments that get held up are held on paperwork, not on quality. We prepare the file before the container is booked so your clearing agent is never waiting on us.

Paddy prices and ocean freight both move week to week, so we quote against your actual requirement rather than publishing a rate that goes stale. Tell us the variety, quantity, packing and discharge port and you will have a price within one working day.
Questions importers ask
By one of two corridors, because Baku is on the Caspian and takes no direct sea call. Either through the International North–South Transport Corridor, discharging at Bandar Abbas and continuing overland, or through the Black Sea to Poti or Batumi and then by road or rail. We fix the corridor with you before booking and quote the chain end to end.
Twenty-five to thirty-five days door to door depending on the corridor. That is longer than a sea-only lane, which is why we date-code shelf life to arrival rather than to milling.
1121 Basmati is the usual specification — it stays separate and elongates rather than collapsing through the long cook. Sella (parboiled) Basmati is the alternative where kitchens want an even firmer grain and less breakage in bulk service.
Yes. We can quote delivered Baku with the inland leg included, or CIF to Bandar Abbas, Poti or Batumi if you prefer to arrange onward haulage yourself.
One 20ft container, roughly 26 metric tonnes. Mixed loads are accepted from five tonnes per grade, though the long inland leg means most buyers here order one or two grades in full loads.
